Newcomer needs for an active life in focus

The department for culture and leisure at Skellefteå municipality is now conducting a survey among those who have recently moved to Skellefteå. The aim is to get a better understanding of the newcomers needs for them to be able to live an active life, and also find out how to communicate what’s on offer in a way that will reach our new citizens.

The department for culture and leisure wants to offer all residents of Skellefteå the opportunity to experience culture and leisure, both as practitioners and consumers. Cultural and leisure activities play a crucial role in the well-being of individuals. Therefore, the municipality currently offers a wide range of services and meeting places.

‑ New residents may have different preferences and approaches to what they want to do in their free time. We therefore need to find out more about what this target group thinks,’ says Ingrid Thylin, head of the department for culture and leisure.

The newcomers are important for Skellefteå's continued development. Making them feel included in society and feel comfortable with life in the city is therefore an important task for the Culture and Leisure Office.

The survey will be out for about 4 weeks, and is available here:
