Handens hus is located in the Nordanå area and is a forum for handicrafts in Skellefteå.
About Handens hus
The guiding principle of Handens hus is quality. Constant development of materials, techniques and forms is a prerequisite for the survival of newly produced crafts and handicrafts. Here, meetings take place between practitioners, between past and present, and between old and young.
Children's activities, craft meetings and activity days are organized at Handens hus. A municipal handicraft consultant employed half-time runs the activities.
Location
Handens hus is located in the old farm building on the western side of the Nordanå area. It is located in the same building as Lanthandeln, entrance from the back.

Handens hus - Spring 2026
On craft evenings, we craft with the evening's theme as inspiration.
Tools are available to borrow and materials for the evening's theme are included. If you want to, you can bring your own tools and materials.
The evenings are suitable for anyone who is curious about crafts, but children under 13 years of age must always be accompanied by
an adult. The evenings are adapted for adults. No registration.
Fee: It costs SEK 60 per evening for materials and coffee.
Program:
17 February Crochet single crochet stitches
We are trying different ways to crochet single crochet stitches.
3 March Wool embroidery
Using wool thread on wool fabric, we form various stitches to create an embroidery.
17 March Paper flowers
Using silk and crepe paper, we shape flowers in a traditional handicraft style.
31 March Felt a figure on your finger
The sheep’s wool is placed directly on the finger and shaped into a figure using soapy water, which we use to rub the wool together
14 April Whittle
We practice different whittling grips and see what we can create.
28 April Try bobbin lace making
Using linen thread wound onto bobbin lace spools, we create lace.
26 May For everyday life – crafts we use every day
There are several craft techniques to work with. Maybe you’ll make a carved butter knife, a crocheted pot holder, or take care of something that needs mending and repair
9 June For festive occasions – crafts we use from time to time
There are several craft techniques to work with. Perhaps you’ll make a festive wand, something for the table setting, or a small gift to bring along.
Dress the loom
Four weaving sessions on dressing a floor loom
These sessions are for those who know how to weave but don’t yet feel confident with calculations, warping, and dressing the loom.
Together, we will set up a loom from start to finish, and afterwards you will get the opportunity to weave a rag rug.
Participants sign up for all four sessions
We meet at Kulturbanken, Nordanå 5.
We will start as soon as there are participants. The loom is prepared from previous sessions.

Carve on Tuesday evenings - Starts February 24
Tuesdays every other week at 18.30.
Carving evenings for you who like to carve. Bring your own carving project.

Craft Workshop during the exhibition:
20 May, 23 May, 31 May, 3 June, 7 June, 13 June, at 13.00–15.00
The craft workshop offers different techniques on different days. No registration required.
For all ages, but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
