FAQ - preschool and school for Northvolt workers

Yes, but with limited hours.

If you are unemployed and have a Swedish personal identity number (personnummer), your child can be in preschool for a maximum of 15 hours per week, or 3 hours per day, from the age of 1.

From the age of 3, all children are entitled to 3 hours of preschool per day, regardless of whether you have a personal identity number or not.

If you are leaving Skellefteå and your kid is in preschool, you have to cancel your place in the preschool. You can do this via our online form if you have a BankID or Freja eID+, or you can contact Skellefteå kommun (municipality) directly at 0910-73 50 00 or kundtjanst@skelleftea.se for help with filling out the form.

The period of notice is 2 months, during which you still pay the preschool fee. If you do not intend to use your place in preschool during this period of notice, you can mark your child as absent in the preschool schedule and you won’t get a bill for this time.

If your child hasn’t started their introduction in preschool, the period of notice does not apply, but you still need to contact us if you do not intend to start the introduction.

If you become unemployed, you are no longer entitled to childcare on evenings and nights. Your child can switch to a daytime preschool, but you need to apply for this separately. You keep your place in the evening or night childcare until you get a new placement in a daytime preschool.
