About Ida Nielsen
Ida Nielsen has recently released her sixth album, "More Sauce, Please!", on German Leopard Records. The Danish bassist-singer, former member of Prince's backing band, has an impressive career. After being discovered by Prince through a spontaneous jam session in 2010, Nielsen became a central part of his band until his passing in 2016.
On his latest album, Nielsen shows off his unique style, combining funk rhythms, slap bass virtuosity and his own rapping. The album, which marks her fourth solo effort since Prince's passing, includes influences ranging from rock-funk to orchestral pop rap. Nielsen, who dedicated her previous album "Turn It Up" to Prince, continues to honor her mentor and emphasizes the importance of playing with the heart.
Born in Aarhus, Denmark, Ida Nielsen has developed her signature sound and become known as one of the world's top 10 bass players. Following appearances with artists such as Michael Learns To Rock and Zap Mama, her solo work has included albums such as 'Marmalade', 'Turn It Up', and the latest 'More Sauce, Please!', where she returns to her beloved funk groove.
