The Modern Standards Supergroup takes you on a journey based on the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective's seminal concept, Jazz/Takes, which has been a hit at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. This supergroup delivers a dynamic mix of original compositions and jazz interpretations of iconic songs from various genres, from 1960s psychedelic rock to today's pop hits.
Originally, these legendary musicians came together for a 2022 European tour, challenging and renewing the jazz standard repertoire by giving jazz interpretations of songs from Nirvana to Miles Davis. The recording of their live concert at the Leverkusener Jazztage in Germany, one of Europe's premier jazz festivals, now marks their first official album release.
This unique lineup of seasoned musicians creates a musical experience that not only celebrates the history of jazz, but also explores and modernizes its traditions.
