New sounds & Mendelssohn

A lone violin opens Albert Schnelzer's Through the Eye of the Pegasus – a raucous orchestral work composed for the 40th anniversary of the reopening of the Alte Oper Frankfurt.
INCLUDED IN THE SUBSCRIPTION FOR CLASSICAL CONCERTS

The evening's concert contains a stirring orchestral piece, new sounds on the saxophone and indescribably beautiful by Mendelsohn.

A lone violin opens Albert Schnelzer's Through the Eye of the Pegasus – a raucous orchestral work composed for the 40th anniversary of the reopening of the Alte Oper Frankfurt.

New sounds also pervade Tebogo Monnagkotla's saxophone concerto Gaea (Mother Earth) – a work in which Monnakgotla explores man's impact on the environment from an animal perspective. The concert is composed for the saxophonist Johannes Thorell, who is the soloist in the concert.

Felix Mendelssohn made his first trip to the British Isles in 1829. The following year he wrote his indescribably beautiful fifth symphony, which was named Reformation. The play coincided with the 300th anniversary of the Augsburg Confession - a milestone during the Reformation.
