Discover Yellowjacket's unique electroacoustic sound world when they return to Sara kulturhus this fall! Through nearly four decades, this jazz ensemble has consistently reinvented themselves.
With the star-studded lineup consisting of Bob Mintzer (tenor & soprano sax/EWI), Russell Ferrante (piano/keyboards), Will Kennedy (drums, keyboards) and Dane Alderson (electric bass, MIDI Sequencing), they promise an unforgettable concert experience on Scen 1, filled with magical soundscapes.
About the latest album "Parallel Motion"
Parallel Motion is the band's 30th album and a testament to the band's longevity. The current lineup of Bob Mintzer, Russell Ferrante, Will Kennedy and Dane Alderson showcase their artistry in 9 new original compositions, including guest vocalist Jean Baylor.
A tight jazz ensemble for nearly four decades, the Yellowjackets continue to explore electroacoustic soundscapes. For Jackets XL, they team up with the WDR Big Band to reimagine their classics with new arrangements that include twists and bold solos.
"This band never rests," says Bob Mintzer. "We are the most adaptable musicians. WDR is one of the best big bands in the world. I knew the two groups would be a nice marriage."
Russell Ferrante welcomes the project, and Bob Mintzer rearranges old favorites like 'Mile High' and 'Revelation' to give them a fresh feel.
"'Mile High' was a pop song in the 80s, but the new arrangement suits Yellowjacket's sound today. It's like brand new music with a big band touch."
