Typology Of The Underworld
The first exhibition of the year at MAN is an artistic exploration of what lies beneath the surface, in the depths, in the underground. The works in the exhibition point to cultural, psychological, emotional, and economic issues.
"The Typology Of The Underworld" is an artistic study of what lies beneath the surface, in the depths.
In light of the increased exploitation of nature's resources in northern Sweden, the exhibition explores man's relationship to the ground, the underworld, the subconscious, the sacred and the poetic - everything that moves "below the surface" and which in some cases ends up outside of what is visible to the eye . The works in the exhibition point to cultural, psychological, emotional as well as economic problems.
The exhibition presents works by Gerd Aurell, Sebastian Poras Adolfsson, Fanny Carina's daughter, Simon Gran Danielsson, Hannes Iversen, Mattias Olofsson, Maria K Olsson, Moa Ryman, Helena Wikström.
All the artists are part of the artist-run gallery Verkligheten External link. in Umeå, where in recent years people have gathered to talk about and be inspired by books and films that move beyond the imagination of today's world.
The exhibition is curated and produced by MAN External link..
