Leif Engström - Natten vilar mot Balkongdörren
Skellefteå Art Gallery is showing a larger exhibition by the artist Leif Engström this autumn. In his visual world, states of mind, memories and places are made visible in the borderland between nature and the urban.

Leif Engström - Natten vilar mot balkongdörren/ The night rests against the balcony door
Leif Engström has in a short time made a name for himself in the Swedish art world through his poetic landscape paintings. The environments he creates through color choice, composition and material treatment are often based on sketches he made on his computer. Sketches built up as collages consisting of reference photographs he took of his immediate environment or found online.
Recurring in his motifs is the relationship between architecture and vegetation, where human presence is reminded through an illuminated window or an open balcony door. Engström portrays the city and the landscape as a stage on which the viewer is given space to add a story himself.
The exhibition runs from 5 October to 5 January 2025
