Boliden's 100th anniversary is celebrated with dancing children and youth who honor the changing seasons through the Autumn Dance, Lingonberry Picking Dance, Snowballs, Reindeer Dance, and Angels.
We honor Boliden, Boliden's Children's Ballet, and 50 years of cultural heritage in dance art for children and youth. The pioneering work of Boliden's Children's Ballet and Dance in Schools, initiated by dance artist Eva Dahlgren in Boliden, has inspired many municipalities. For over 50 years, Boliden and Skellefteå Municipality have jointly supported dance art for and with children. This unique cultural and dance heritage will be celebrated during the 100th anniversary at Boliden Church on November 24.
The children of Boliden will dance through the past, present, and future, focusing on sustainability. School and preschool children in Boliden encounter dance as an art form, and develop, create, and express themselves through dance. It will be a meeting of dance when children, youth, and professional performers present choreography from Boliden's Children's Ballet, while also creating their own dances to tell the story of life in Boliden today. Additionally, middle school students from Bolidenskolan will perform songs.
Boliden's 100th-anniversary dance at Boliden Church is organized by the Dance in Schools Foundation in collaboration with the Church of Sweden in Boliden, Boliden AB, Sparbanken Nord, and Skellefteå Municipality, and is part of the Dance in November Darkness program.
Sunday, November 24 at 3:00 PM at Boliden Church.
