A cultural exploration not to be missed.
In 2015, The Gothenburg Combo created "The History of Swedish Music", a groundbreaking exhibition at The American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, USA, attracting over 100,000 visitors. Now, this exhibition has evolved into a concert-performance featuring none other than historian Dick Harrison as its guide and narrator!
Through Harrison’s signature blend of insightful, entertaining, and thought-provoking commentary, this concert deepens our understanding of Sweden's cultural legacy, transforming the experience into a fascinating and enjoyable exploration of the nation’s history.
With two guitars, The Gothenburg Combo brings Sweden’s past to life, conjuring the sounds of ancient horns, fiddles, double basses, and trumpets. The journey takes us through:
The medieval melodies of Piae Cantiones
King Erik XIV’s own compositions
The 18th century of the Caroleans
The pastoral traditions of Dalarna
Hymns, midsummer dances, and the Swedish welfare state
Ending with music that resonates with our contemporary times
