Backlura
The many colors of love are portrayed—its pain, joy, longing, and despair. The music reflects various cultures, genres, and eras, featuring standards from the American songbook, classical German pieces, French chansons, and Mexican rancheras.
Love is the strongest of forces. It relentlessly claims humanity’s efforts and ambitions, disrupts our most serious undertakings, and puzzles even the greatest thinkers. No theme is more prevalent in art than love.
The artistic vision of this project is to portray love in all its shades—its pain, joy, longing, and despair. The music transcends cultures, genres, and eras, featuring standards from the American songbook, classical German pieces, French chansons, and Mexican rancheras. These are arranged for jazz trio, accordion, and vocals. The music captures the essence of love, unbound by worldly form, cultural origin, or historical context. It speaks to the universal human longing to love and be loved. Above all, love is the greatest.
