Join us for an evocative and emotional musical journey as the northern Swedish artist and songwriter Vera Vinter takes the stage with her performance Från mitt berg (From My Mountain). Accompanied by four dynamic musician friends, she invites you to explore a world of harmonious folk and world music, enriched by the unique genre known as “norrbossa.”

Born and raised in Stora Lappträsk outside of Kalix, Vera Vinter carries the spirit of Norrbotten in every note and every word. Her poetic lyrics and beautiful melodies reflect the landscapes, people, and nature that have shaped her. Inspiration for this concert is drawn from Brännaberget in Överkalix, a place filled with childhood memories and a sense of freedom and perspective.

Vera is joined on stage by four musicians, each with a powerful personal expression and an extraordinary sense of musical interplay:

  • Mirja Palo – vocals and kantele: A folk musician from Arvidsjaur whose magical sound and emotional expression resonate with the tones of meänkieli, Finnish, and Sami joik.
  • Anna Dager – cello: A skilled cellist who moves effortlessly between pop, rock, and classical music, having toured with the legendary Brian Wilson.
  • Hanna Ekström – violin: Part of the duo Stockholm Strings, known for collaborations with artists like Seinabo Sey and First Aid Kit.
  • Magnus Olsson – percussion: An experienced freelance musician who has played with some of Sweden’s most renowned artists, including Melissa Horn and Darin.

Från mitt berg is a concert experience that takes the listener on an inner journey to memories, places, and people who have shaped us. Sung in both Swedish and Kalix dialect, the music captures the feeling of standing high on a mountain, looking out over a vast horizon – a place where one can feel both powerful and small at the same time.

A production by Norrbottensmusiken.
