Jag tänker på Aina.

During the Wallstreet Festival in Skellefteå, the work "Jag tänker på Aina" by Krister Hägglund will be presented – The work consists of 56 black and white portraits of women placed on the Älvsbacka bridge, The images are originally photographs that have been altered using an AI app.

The images are an attempt to create realistic portraits of women. The approach has been to use an AI-based portrait app on a phone. Krister Hägglund has based it on images of himself and others in his circle of acquaintances. Changed gender, age, hairstyle, face shape, etc. with the help of AI. The new AI portraits that have been created have then been mixed crosswise with each other using AI technology. The result has been portraits of people who do not exist. The images have finally been image processed to mimic black and white documentary photographs.

The project, which started in 2022, was originally an attempt to understand how AI technology can be used to create fake photographs, and to learn to recognize AI-created photographs.

Krister Hägglund is a photographer/artist. Educated at the Konstfackskolan in Stockholm. Lives in Skellefteå since 1990. After 32 years

as a photographer at Skellefteå Museum, he now only works on his own projects.
