Artist talk and catalogue release

Welcome to a conversation between artist Klara Kristalova and author Andrea Lundgren - two storytellers in different media, united by a common interest in myth, existential experience and man's relationship to nature.

The conversation takes place in the exhibition Habitat at Skellefteå Konsthall and at the same time the exhibition catalogue will be launched, in which Andrea Lundgren will contribute a text. The conversation is based on Klara Kristalova's artistic practice - where nature, myth and existential experience meet.

Klara Kristalova , born in 1967 in Prague, and active in Norrtälje. She was educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm (1988–1993) and is a member of Konstakademin. Her sculptures are characterized by a unique combination of the fragile and the monumental, where figurative forms often merge with elements from nature – such as plants, animals or mythological figures. Through careful craftsmanship and careful material processing, Kristalova creates works that invite reflection on identity, transformation and existential themes such as loneliness, fear and belonging.

Andrea Lundgren b. 1986 in Boden and active in Stockholm. She is a writer, literary critic and translator. She made her novel debut in 2010 with I tunga vintrars mage. In 2014, her second critically acclaimed novel Glupahungern was published, which further established her distinctive writing style. In 2018, the short story collection Nordisk fauna was published, which was awarded the Tidningen Vi:s literature prize and the Samfundet De Nios winter prize. Her latest novel Den underjordiska solen was published in 2022. The writing revolves around myths, the forest, and the strangeness of being human.
