Frequently asked questions and answers
Here you will find the most frequently asked questions:
Borrowing and returning
If you are over 18, you are welcome to open a loan account with us, even if you are not studying on site.
Of course!
Of course! The Campus Library is a public library, which means that you can borrow from us even if you are not a student/researcher. However, you cannot make an interlibrary loan (i.e. order books from other libraries) if you are not a student/researcher.
There's no limit on how many materials/books you can check out at a time, except perhaps maybe how many you can carry.
If a book is not returned, it is considered lost. The replacement cost is then 800 SEK per title and the debt is added to the library account. Together with the added debt, the library account will also be blocked from further borrowing and renewals of library materials. This cost is the same for all types of books and materials. The amount is removed from the account when the material is returned, but you will still have to pay the overdue fee.
Example
Peter has borrowed book A and book B, but has lost book A and can not return it. He also cannot renew book B because his account is blocked. Therefore, he has to return book B by the final return date to avoid an overdue fee for book B.
Peter has to pay 800 SEK plus any late fee for book A. If he does not return book B by the deadline, an overdue fee will also be charged for it.
Return in specific situations
We do not have a return box. You can return the book when the library is open again. However, please note that there may be an overdue fee for course books. If you have an access card, you can enter the library even after closing time to return the book.
You can send the book to us by post. Please note that you are responsible for the shipping costs and for the book until it has been deregistered from your library account.
Postal address: Campusbiblioteket Skellefteå, 931 85 Skellefteå.
If you have borrowed a book from the Campus Library, it should be returned to the Campus Library. There may be exceptions if it is a book that belongs to LTU. If you are unsure where to return the book, please contact the Campus Library for guidance.
Services and use
Copying: To copy, you can buy a copy card. You can do this at our information desk. We have 10 cards (15 SEK), 50 cards (50 SEK), 100 cards (90 SEK), and 200 cards (160 SEK). Which of these cards you choose to buy depends entirely on how many pages you want to copy. If you only want to copy a few pages, the price is 2 SEK per single page black and white copy.
Printing: As an LTU student, you can print and copy via your LTU card. If you study through another university or college, you first need to get a "Skola-användare" (school user). This is done via the Helpdesk located upstairs at the Campus Library. If you are not a student, you are referred to Skellefteå City Library.
Yes, we have computers available for use at fixed locations in the library. To use these computers you first need to obtain a "skola-användare", which can be done by visiting the Helpdesk located upstairs in the library.
Yes, we have two wifi networks available here at the Campus Library: LTU's wifi and Skellefteå municipality's wifi.
Our study rooms are drop-in and cannot be booked in advance. If a study room is available, you can use it, provided you are a student. Most of our rooms require at least two people to use them. We have four study rooms where you can study alone or have online meetings. The number of people allowed in each room is indicated on the door.
If you wish to book a room, you can do so in the E-house, located opposite the Campus Library.
Sorry, no. The study rooms are only available for students. However, if you are not a student, you can rent other rooms or premises on campus for your needs.
Charges and late fees
The overdue fee for course books is 50 SEK and then another 50 SEK if the book is not returned or reborrowed.
Your account will be blocked and you will not be able to make new loans or reborrow books until you have paid off the debt.
Log in to My library account External link, opens in new window. and go to "charges" to pay. You can also pay at our information desk.
Other
If you have forgotten your PIN code, we can help you choose a new one. Bring a valid ID document with you (passport, ID card, driving license) and we will do it for you.
When you search the library catalog and see "MAG" in the book's shelf location, it means that the book is in the book stacks (shelves) that are inaccessible for visitors. So to borrow the book you need to talk to the library staff. We will help you get access to the book.
