Getting around by bike
In Skellefteå municipality there are about 24.8 miles of pedestrian and bicycle paths and the municipality is responsible for about 18.7 miles. The main cycle network consists of both separate pedestrian and cycle lanes and streets where cycling takes place in mixed traffic.
The municipality is actively working to make it both safer and easier to cycle. We do this so that Skellefteå can grow sustainably, with better air, better health and less climate impact. We are planning new pedestrian and bicycle paths, rebuilding intersections to make them smoother and safer for traffic, and providing bicycle parking in strategic locations. Prioritizing cyclists and pedestrians will continue.
