Experience Society Expo 2026 up close – one of the biggest events in Skellefteå’s history. Now you can sign up to volunteer and help create a well-organized and memorable event for both visitors and participants.

We currently have about 85 volunteers and want to grow – take this chance to join us! Positions are filled on a rolling basis. This is a volunteer role performed without financial compensation, but it offers the opportunity to contribute to the event and gain valuable experience.

What does it mean to work at Society Expo?

During Society Expo, you are an important part of the overall experience. You help ensure that everything runs smoothly, that people feel welcome, and that the event is a safe, sustainable, and inspiring place. There are several different roles to apply for, depending on your interests and experience. Some of the tasks may be physically demanding, such as carrying or lifting items.

Training
All staff members will receive basic training in hospitality during Society Expo, and for certain roles, more specific training in areas such as sustainability or guiding.

Roles you can express interest in

Expo Host

As an Expo Host, you’ll meet visitors, answer questions, show them the way, and create a welcoming atmosphere. You’ll receive basic training in hospitality and become part of a team that makes a difference on-site.

You ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, deliver materials, serve refreshments, or assist where needed. You ensure the venue is clean, welcoming, and environmentally friendly. You will receive a briefing on Society Expo’s guidelines regarding sustainability and the environment. A Class B driver’s license is preferred but not required.

Team Leader

You’ll lead a group of Expo Hosts and plan their shifts. Perfect for those who enjoy taking responsibility, keeping a team together, and solving problems on the spot.

Guides for Technical Visits (guided tours by bus or foot)

You will guide groups from companies, organizations, and municipalities visiting Society Expo. You will receive additional training in guiding and hospitality.

Conference Hosts Focused on the Stage or Entrance

A conference host focused on the stage is responsible for ensuring the conference schedule is followed, works backstage providing hospitality, and keeps the stage, backstage area, and audience area clean and tidy. This role is sought for specific dates. Applicants should be organized and service-oriented.

Conference hosts focused on the entrance welcome guests to the conference, scan tickets or check in participants, and guide visitors in the right direction. This role is available for specific dates; no prior experience is required.

When and how?

May 27 – June 9, 2026
You can choose to work day, weekend, or evening shifts, or during specific program events. However, for certain roles, such as Team Leader, it is desirable to be able to work for several days.
