Event Guide

Society Expo 2026

Ahead of Society Expo 2026, we’ve gathered everything you need as a visitor to ensure the smoothest and most fulfilling experience possible. On this page, we’ve compiled practical tips and facts to help you – from travel and accommodations to the program, services, and on-site experiences.

Event Area

The event area is divided into five different locations: City center; Guldtorget and Nordanå, Campus, Kurjoviken, and Skellefteå Airport. In addition, Skellefteå Droneport and the Scharins area in Ursviken also offer activities.

You don’t need a ticket for the event, most activities are free to participate in, although some require registration. In the event calendar, you’ll find hundreds of activities to enjoy during your visit.

Travel between locations

For those who want to get between the different locations, there are several options, and most are completely free. Skellefteå, one of the “15-minute cities” on the Norrland coast, is easy to get around by bike or by foot. There are also good bus connections or boat to Kurjoviken. The city center (Sara Kulturhus and Guldtorget), Nordanå, and Campus are all within walking distance of each other.

City buses

Travel on Skellefteå’s city buses is free every day during Society Expo, from May 27 to June 9. Skellefteå’s city bus network includes lines 1–4 and line 9. To travel for free, you need to download the event ticket in the Skellefteå Buss app. The ticket will be available starting May 27 and is valid for the entire duration of the event. More information on how to download the ticket will be published at a later date.

Buses depart from Stationsgatan in the city center, and current departure times can be found in the Skellefteå Buss app.

Society Expo Hop-on–Hop-off

Society Expo’s Hop-on–Hop-off buses make it easy to get between event areas. The buses are free for everyone and run daily between the city center, Wasteland in Ursviken (Scharinsområdet), and Kurjoviken, so you can easily experience multiple parts of the event in a single day. You can hop on and off at any stop, stay as long as you like, and catch the next bus when you’re ready to continue your journey.

Taxi boat

With Nordisk Sjötaxi, you can take a boat between downtown (Bryggarbacken, by the river) and Kurjoviken, a trip that takes about 1,5 hours. During the trip, you’ll experience Skellefteå from the riverbank, which isn’t just a mode of transportation but an experience in itself. The trips are free and depart at regular intervals between May 27 and June 9.

Cycling around

Cycling around Skellefteå is an excellent way to get around quickly between different areas, it also gives you the opportunity to discover even more exciting places. At Cykel och Fiskecenter, you can rent both electric and regular bikes. You can quickly get from the city center out to the beautiful nature and other interesting places. A bike gives you the freedom to experience everything Skellefteå has to offer in a convenient way.
