For those traveling longer distances, it may be a good idea to review your options and book well in advance.

Take the train

You can book your train trip to Skellefteå Bus Station at sj.se Opens in new window.. The final part of the journey is by bus, either from Bastuträsk, Jörn, or Umeå. If you’re traveling by night train, we recommend Bastuträsk, where the buses are scheduled to match the train arrival times. The bus ride from Bastuträsk or Jörn takes about 50 minutes, while the trip from Umeå takes about two hours.

All buses arrive at Skellefteå Bus Station, located about 200 meters from Sara Kulturhus – right in the heart of downtown and one of the main venues for Society Expo 2026.

Take the bus

A convenient trip without the need for a transfer. For those not traveling such a long distance, there is the option to take the Norrlandskusten, which connects cities between Sundsvall and Haparanda.

Fly

Flying to Skellefteå is both easy and convenient. SAS and Norwegian operate the flight service, offering direct flights from Arlanda in Stockholm to Skellefteå. There is also a direct connection between Gdansk and Skellefteå with Ryanair. This opens up opportunities for travelers from Poland and other parts of Europe to easily reach Skellefteå.

Skellefteå Airport, located about 20 minutes by bus or car from downtown, is a small and well-organized airport. This means that check-in and security checks are quick and smooth, so you can avoid long lines.

The airport buses are scheduled to match the time of arrival and wait right outside the arrival hall.
