SE26 - Sustainability

Sustainability in SE26

Sustainability is a cornerstone of Society Expo 2026. For us, it is about taking responsibility for the whole, how we plan, implement, and collaborate, but also about the impact SE26 leaves behind. Through the event, we want to contribute to an environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable society, in line with Skellefteå Municipality's vision: A sustainable place for a better everyday life.

Society Expo should be more than just an event. It should be a platform for collaboration, learning, and change, where sustainability is not a side issue but an integral part of the whole.

How we work with sustainability

Our sustainability work is based on an agreed sustainability policy that guides the entire project. The policy describes our ambitions and the direction we are working in, from early planning to implementation and further collaboration.

As our circumstances change, we face new challenges. This requires courage, cooperation, and innovative thinking. Sustainability work within SE26 is a shared responsibility that we share with partners, exhibitors, associations, and other stakeholders.

Social inclusion and participation

Society Expo 2026 should be an event where everyone feels welcome and included. For us, social sustainability means actively working with inclusion, security, equality, and accessibility.

Through collaboration with associations, civil society, schools, and other local actors, we create opportunities for more people to participate, contribute, and take their place. Accessibility, both physical, digital, and linguistic, is a prerequisite for SE26 to be perceived as open and relevant to everyone.

Economic sustainability and long-term development

SE26 aims to contribute to long-term social benefits. By using resources efficiently and creating arenas for innovation, collaboration, and new ideas, we want to strengthen both business and social development.

Society Expo serves as a meeting place where companies, organizations, researchers, and social actors can meet, test solutions, and build relationships that continue even after the event.

What does this mean for you as a partner or exhibitor?

As a partner or exhibitor at Society Expo 2026, you are part of our sustainability work. We see sustainability as a joint process in which dialogue, cooperation, and a desire to develop are central elements.

Our ambition is to create favorable conditions for actors who want to contribute to sustainable social development, whether it concerns innovation, inclusion, resource management, or long-term value creation.

Our sustainability policy in its entirety

Sustainability work within Society Expo 2026 is guided by the following policy:

Sustainability policy
As organizers of Society Expo (SE26), we have decided to contribute to an environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable society. As our circumstances change, we face new challenges that require courage, cooperation, and innovative thinking. This is in line with Skellefteå Municipality's vision: A sustainable place for a better everyday life.

We will:

  • prioritize environmental aspects in all parts of the project by choosing suppliers with a clear sustainability profile, working with reuse and recycling, and well-planned travel,
ensure that social inclusion, security, equality, and participation are a common thread in our activities and collaborations,
  • work for economic sustainability by using resources efficiently, strengthening innovation and business, and contributing to the long-term development of the municipality,
  • promoting collaboration between local, national, and international actors by creating a platform for innovative solutions that can be disseminated further.

We see Society Expo as a catalyst for change that makes a difference nationally and internationally.

The sustainability policy is also available to read and download as a PDF for those who want to read it in its entirety.
