A warm welcome for newcomers to Skellefte

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, the Nordanå area in Skellefteå was filled with life and movement when this year's Inflyttardag took place. The event, which was organized for the eleventh time by Skellefteå municipality and Welcome House, has become something of a tradition where newcomers to Skellefteå are welcomed and given the chance to get to know their new hometown a little better.

Society Expo was of course represented with a station that was well attended by both curious adult visitors and creative children. We provided information about next year's Society Expo, answered questions and discussed both our and the visitors' hopes for the future.

During the event, the invited visitors also took part in a variety of activities - such as guided tours of Skellefteå Museum, meetings with local associations and businesses, and various cultural events. For children, there were play areas and crafts, while adults could make new contacts and get information about the city's offerings.

The packed program included dance performances from Skellefteå Tango Society, music by Carolina Miskovsky & Daniel Pettersson and a powerful ending with Ifeoma Beulah on stage. With her own song that she performed - "I love Skellefteå". AIK's mascot Buddy appeared several times during the day to spread joy - not least with his appreciated candy rain.

- There was a good mix of actors who were in place. So there was something for everyone in the family, says Sofia Sturesson, Project Manager/Communicator for Welcome House Skellefteå.

Inflyttardagen is organized every year so that all new residents have the opportunity to make new contacts and are welcomed into the strong community that is Skellefteå. Everyone who has moved to the municipality in the last year and a half is invited to participate.
