Workshop on Mission to Move: Collaboration for mental health and movement

Today, stakeholders from schools, associations and businesses gathered to mobilize around Mission to Move - an initiative to make Anderstorp a district full of movement. The focus was on two themes: mental health among young girls and how we can arouse curiosity and commitment to Mission to Move.

The background is clear: research shows a worrying trend where both children and seniors are less active. At the same time, we know that physical activity and mental health are closely linked. Mission to Move wants to break this trend - by building a test bed for movement and community, created by and for the residents of Anderstorp. The aim is to find out what works, what has an effect and eventually spread it to the whole municipality. Today's workshop was about working across borders - creating new collaborations and ideas to get more people moving. Participants worked in groups on questions like: How do we take this work forward? and How can we create partnerships together?

The next step will be a follow-up meeting in November, where we will build on today's input and ideas. In connection with the day, it was also highlighted that Mission to Move is now looking for people and actors who want to get involved in a new pilot project on movement-rich schoolyards. The aim is to create schoolyards where movement becomes a natural and enjoyable part of children and young people's everyday lives. Together with schools, associations, researchers and residents, we want to test new ideas, methods and collaborations that strengthen both physical and mental health.
