A workshop about the future

We invited to a creative workshop where around fifty participants gathered to shape Skellefteå’s Future Vision. Representatives from the municipality, local businesses, and the public sector collaborated to create a shared vision of a sustainable and interconnected Skellefteå.

During these days, participants had the opportunity to contribute their unique perspectives on everything from climate and environment, to mobility and community development. Together, we built a physical and interactive model of Skellefteå, where different "yarn islands" represented important places in Skellefteå and its surroundings. This was not just a model in the physical sense - it was also an opportunity to really feel and see the future, to discuss how our places are interconnected.

For us at SE26 Exhibition, this work is about more than just buildings and roads - it's about painting the big picture. What do we need to connect the city, both physically and socially, so that everyone can be part of it? What does sustainability mean in a city that grows and develops as Skellefteå does? And perhaps even more importantly: what is missing for us to be able to create a city that is not only sustainable, but also future-proof?

It was great to be invited to this process, where every person who participated - regardless of background or profession - contributed with their thoughts and experiences. From the municipal management office and community development, to companies such as Boliden, Skellefteå Kraft and Skellefteå Buss, as well as schools, universities and other key stakeholders - we all had something to give to shape our shared future.

Thinking long-term together

An important part of our work was also to reflect on where we might be in 2040. As we saw this week, through the initiative of Skebo and with the guidance of Peder Fjällström from try New Things, we gathered to look at possible future paths for Skellefteå. Together with Anna Ersson and many others, we identified the pipe dreams that can become reality when we work together to shape the city for the future. It's about creating a city where sustainability and innovation go hand in hand - a vision we are building together.

A platform for collaboration

On our journey towards SE26, we have gathered ideas and insights that will now become a central part of our work. These days have been full of exciting discussions and reflections. The ideas and insights we gathered during these days will become an important part of our SE26 Exhibition, which we hope will inspire our future innovative leaders. It's about creating a place where people and ideas can grow together - a city where sustainability, innovation and community are not just words, but reality.

The SE26 Exhibition is an interactive and inspiring exhibition that aims to shape and engage future innovative leaders. The exhibition focuses on how collaboration, sustainability and innovation can create societal change and the connected city of the future. By bringing together young, old and everyone in between, we invite our visitors to explore and reflect on their own role in building a sustainable future.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed. We look forward to continuing this journey with you!
