PlaceX Nordic will be held in Skellefteå during Society Expo 2026

During Society Expo 2026, PlaceX Nordic ( June 2–3) will be held in Skellefteå—an international forum for learning, dialogue, and exchange of experiences on how places can be developed in times of rapid and complex social change.

PlaceX Nordic will be held on June 2–3, 2026, bringing together participants from the Nordic region, Europe, and other parts of the world who work with place development, urban planning, investments, destinations, and attractiveness.

The program is based on real challenges and difficult choices, with a focus on how change can happen quickly without compromising sustainability, quality, and the human perspective.

Program overview:

June 2 – Keynotes & in-depth sessions
The day includes inspiring keynotes, breakout sessions, and workshops focusing on: talent attraction, investment promotion, place branding and marketing, place development, and the tourism industry.

June 3 – Dilemmas, workshops & site visits
Day two continues with keynotes, workshops, and so-called Dilemma Studios, where participants jointly explore complex issues related to: Talent attraction, investment promotion, place branding and marketing, place development, and tourism.

The day ends with technical visits, where Skellefteå's ongoing social transformation can be experienced firsthand.

It is no coincidence that PlaceX Nordic is being held in Skellefteå. One of Europe's most extensive social transformations is currently underway here – with growth, setbacks, and lessons learned being shared openly.
