The Rural Parliament 2026 will be held in Skellefteå

Planning for the 2026 Rural Parliament in Skellefteå is in full swing. The event will be held in conjunction with Society Expo 2026 and will be an important national meeting place for civil society, authorities, municipalities, regions, business, and politics.

With this year's theme, "Focus on Action," the Rural Parliament highlights concrete examples, solutions, and initiatives that show how local communities around the country are taking the future into their own hands—and what responsibility is required of decision-makers to enable development throughout Sweden.

Västerbotten, with its large geographical area and strong local commitment, plays a central role. All 15 municipalities in the county are involved in the work to showcase the region's diversity, strength, and creativity.

On Friday, May 29, inspirational trips will be organized around Västerbotten (and parts of Norrbotten), followed by an opening ceremony in Skellefteå. The main program will be held at Sara Kulturhus with lectures, discussions, exhibitions, and meetings – in the midst of an ongoing social transformation.

Together with Society Expo, a strong arena for dialogue, collaboration, and action is being created.
