Sustainability starts with knowledge – part of the opening ceremony of Society Expo 2026

On May 28, Society Expo 2026 will be inaugurated in Skellefteå. As part of the inauguration day, Skellefteå Municipality is inviting the public to an open inspiration program at Sara Kulturhus under the theme "Sustainability begins with knowledge."

How can we create sustainable societies in a time of rapid change? During the afternoon, leading voices in business, economics, and social development will meet to share their perspectives on how knowledge, analysis, and bold decisions can pave the way for long-term sustainable societies.

On stage will be, among others:

• Helena Helmersson, board professional and former CEO of H&M
• Annika Winsth, Chief Economist at Nordea
• Kjell A Nordström, researcher and lecturer

Together with Skellefteå municipality's leadership, they will discuss how we can achieve real success in the transition – economically, socially and climatically.

The afternoon will conclude with a look into the future and a symbolic handover ahead of the upcoming 14 days of the expo.

The event is free of charge and open to both the business community and the general public.
