On Tuesday, Society Expo 2026 invited the press and partners to the Skellefteå Museum. The focus was on the Expo’s content—including an in-depth look at the program, the exhibition, and details regarding the opening ceremony on May 28.

The press conference was attended by Evelina Fahlesson (S), vice chair of the municipal executive board; Helena Renström, project manager for Society Expo 2026; Mikke Ejrevi, CEO of Skellefteå Museum; and Catarina Hägglund, sustainability manager at Skellefteå Kraft.

Together, they described how Society Expo is taking shape—as a joint initiative in which the public sector, the business community, and the cultural sector are working together to highlight Skellefteå’s social transformation.

The program now includes over 180 events and continues to evolve. For two weeks, Skellefteå will be filled with activities, discussions, and experiences—where different perspectives meet and future societal issues are explored together.

A central part is the Society Expo Exhibition at Skellefteå Museum, where visitors can experience how a society is interconnected and changes—through interactive elements that connect people, energy, and ideas.

During the press conference, the program for the opening ceremony on May 28 at Saraplatsen was also presented.

The evening will mark the start of Society Expo 2026 and will consist of several parts—from warm-up activities and discussions to live music.

Performers on stage will include Maxida Märak and Carola Häggkvist. The evening will kick off with DJ Gloria, 82, and continue with stage performances leading up to the official opening ceremony.
