Society Expo 2026 is an event that is taking shape in collaboration with the local community. When schools, organizations, local businesses, and companies participate in the planning and execution, it fosters both a sense of involvement and local pride.
Local stakeholders contribute ideas, perspectives, and experiences that clearly shape the development of Society Expo. Their knowledge and commitment lead to solutions that reflect the region’s diversity, creativity, and drive. The partnerships that have emerged have become crucial to the overall vision and are shaping the event’s form. Below are some of the co-creators who, in various ways, are making Society Expo 2026 possible:
In preparation for Society Expo 2026, the Technology Program at Balderskolan is working to develop new environmental stations for the event site. In this project, students serve as co-creators by developing solutions where sustainability, design, and functionality go hand in hand. The assignment gives students the opportunity to work on a real-world project and contribute their knowledge to the development of Society Expo.
Accessibility and inclusion are central to the work, a focus evident in everything from the design of the recycling stations to how information is presented. The goal is to create recycling stations that make it easy for everyone to sort waste correctly. The actual construction of the recycling stations is being carried out by Solkraft.
Solkraft is a co-creator of Society Expo and is responsible for producing the sustainable exhibition booths, which are among the most visible features of the event. The booths are constructed of wood with a focus on quality, reuse, and durability—fully in line with Society Expo’s goals for social and environmental sustainability.
Solkraft is a municipal program that provides individuals outside the regular labor market with opportunities for vocational rehabilitation, job training, and preparation for future employment. Through their work on the Society Expo project, participants get to engage in a concrete and meaningful project where their efforts become part of a larger whole.
The students in the transportation program at Anderstorp High School play a vital role behind the scenes. Among other things, they help load, transport, and unload our partners’ exhibition booths, as well as the booth located at Saraplatsen.
The Construction and Civil Engineering Program at Anderstorp High School is a co-creator of Society Expo by manufacturing two specially designed ping-pong tables that will become part of Society Expo’s public spaces. During the fall semester of 2025, students will build one adult-sized ping-pong table and one child-sized table—both designed for outdoor use and long-term durability.
The ping-pong tables will reflect the feeling of a city in motion, where people, ideas, and the future come together, based on the theme “Skellefteå in the midst of change.”
The visual arts program at Anderstorp High School is a co-creator of Society Expo through the artistic design of the ping-pong tables being built by the construction program. The students are responsible for painting and decorating the tables, with a focus on color, form, and expression.
In addition, the students are also creating art for the scaffolding that will be placed in the center during Society Expo. The design is based on the theme “A Place to Feel at Home” and is characterized by a playful, colorful, and inviting style.
In preparation for Society Expo, the Crafts and Production program is contributing by manufacturing various components for the event area. Among other things, the students have produced tiles for tree stumps that will be painted by the art students. The tiles will feature friendly messages related to social sustainability.
The students have also, in collaboration with the Construction and Civil Engineering program, helped build information pillars that will be placed throughout the event area.
The students in the art program at Solvik Folk High School are co-creators of Society Expo and are contributing to the set design by creating 100 large, beautiful flowers. The flowers will be part of the overall visual design and will enhance the experience of the venue through color, form, and creative expression.
Solvik Folk High School offers courses in art, music, culture, writing, and general theoretical subjects, and actively works to provide adults with disabilities the opportunity to improve their quality of life.
Daily Activity Programs are key partners in Society Expo and help ensure the event takes place in a safe, pleasant, and welcoming environment. During Society Expo, Daily Activity Programs assist with cleaning and keep the area clean and orderly—a crucial contribution to the overall experience for both visitors and participants.
Daily activities are a program under the LSS that offers meaningful employment, community, and personal development for people of working age who are neither working nor studying. The work is tailored to the individual’s abilities and aims to strengthen independence, responsibility, and participation in the workforce.
As a co-creator of Society Expo , Urkraft contributes artistic installations made from recycled materials in public spaces. Together with participants and in collaboration with Society Expo, Urkraft helps shape spaces, fosters participation, and demonstrates how art can engage, inspire, and contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable society.
Urkraft is a work-integrating social enterprise that works with art and creative processes alongside people who are outside the labor market.
A vibrant art project is currently taking shape at Floraskolan. Students are painting fish that will be part of Society Expo—an event where many people come together to shape the content.
In the classrooms at Floraskolan, a creative project is underway where students are painting fish in various shapes and sizes. With glitter paints and their own designs, each fish takes on a unique look. The fish will be part of a larger installation during Society Expo, where they will be hung in a fish drying rack at Kurjoviken. Together, they form a collective work of art.
