Boliden – Metals for the Solutions of the Future

At Society Expo 2026 in Skellefteå, Boliden was one of the companies participating to demonstrate how industry contributes to societal development. Society Expo focuses on sustainable development, innovation, and how we build the society of the future.

Boliden has participated in exhibitions where visitors have learned about the mining and metals industry. They have demonstrated how metals such as copper, zinc, gold, and silver are extracted and used in, for example, electronics, buildings, and energy.

They have also highlighted concrete and building materials, explaining how metals from mines are needed in structures alongside concrete—for example, in bridges, buildings, and infrastructure. In this way, they have demonstrated how different materials work together in building a sustainable society.

Sustainability has been a key part of Boliden’s presentation. They have shown how they are working to reduce emissions, recycle metals from electronics, and use resources wisely. They have also demonstrated how the industry can contribute to the green transition.

Boliden has also discussed jobs and training opportunities within the industry to inspire young people.
