Norra Timber supplies heartwood pine from Norrland

Norra Timber participated in Society Expo in Skellefteå and demonstrated how they work with wood and building materials from the forest. The focus was on sustainable construction and how wood can be used instead of materials that have a greater impact on the climate.

In the Wasteland area, they participated in art and exhibition projects that utilized high-quality northern Swedish heart pine—a type of wood particularly well-suited for structures where durability, dimensional stability, and a long service life are crucial.

By using lumber from a local sawmill, the project has been able to combine architectural ambitions with low climate impact, short transport distances, and a clear regional connection. The slow-growing northern Swedish pine contributes both to the building’s quality and to its ability to age gracefully over time.
