Working together for a safer Skellefteå
During Society Expo 2026, Trygghetsboxen (Safety Box) will take center stage – a meeting place where safety is the focus. Here, space is given to the social actors who, every day, in different ways, contribute to making Skellefteå a safer city to live in. These are organizations, initiatives, and people who make a difference in everyday life.
During the event, visitors can stop by the Skebo and Skellefteå Buss booth, Trygghetsboxen, which is a collaboration to strengthen safety in Skellefteå. Trygghetsboxen gives various organizations the opportunity to showcase their activities and explain how they contribute to the safety of residents of all ages. The venue will also be a meeting place for discussions about safety, responsibility, and what we can all do to ensure that Skellefteå remains a safe and inclusive city.
Skebo and Skellefteå Buss meet thousands of citizens every day. Through residential areas, bus stops, buses, and other physical environments, we have a shared responsibility to create places where safety can be experienced from multiple perspectives. It is about security, about being free from threats and violence, about knowing that help is close at hand – and about daring to ask, speak up, or act when something does not feel right.
Safety is one of our most basic human needs. For Skellefteå to remain an attractive and sustainable place to live and work in the future, cooperation is required. Together, we need to build the safety that allows people to grow, meet, and feel confident in their surroundings.
In the Safety Box, we hope to meet with organizations such as the Red Cross, Nattvandrarna, Aktiva Mammor, the police, FRIS, Rädda Barnen, Seniortorget, and Hej Främling – and many more. Together, we will create a place where safety is not just discussed, but also truly felt.
Questions and answers about the project
Mobility, social sustainability through the missions and activities of both companies.
By involving civil society, which contributes to social sustainability in people's everyday lives outside their homes, workplaces, and the journey between them.
At the local level, by highlighting and creating stronger support for safety issues related to public transport and housing, with the involvement of civil society.
We do not believe that our box will deliver measurable benefits. We hope that visitors will engage with it and find a safe space for themselves.
For Skebo and Skellefteå Buss, as well as the participating civil society actors, sustainability is the cornerstone of their operations, including social sustainability, ecological sustainability, and the conservation of our resources.
No.
The project fits best under the strategic area A place to thrive.
Everyone who lives in Skellefteå. The general public who are reached by the efforts of Society Expo 2026 and via Skebo's own channels.
We see safe public transport, secure housing with a sense of community, and a civil society that creates meaning as the foundations of a sustainable place for a better everyday life.
