Meet & Match Skellefteå

Meet & Match was part of Skellefteå’s collective effort to address the societal transformation we are currently undergoing, with a clear ambition to continue driving the green transition from northern Sweden – with Skellefteå in a leading role.

During October and November 2024, Meet & Match Skellefteå was carried out – a series of four events aimed at creating new opportunities for both individuals and companies in the region. The events targeted those affected by Northvolt’s operational changes and were open to all job seekers in Skellefteå, with the goal of providing tools and contacts to help them remain in the municipality, the region, or find new paths within Sweden.

At the same time, Meet & Match offered a valuable platform for companies in northern Sweden to tap into the expertise released as a result of the changes. Through collaboration between the municipality, employers, and job seekers, new connections were formed that strengthen both individuals future and business development.

Meet & Match Skellefteå was organized by Skellefteå Municipality, the Swedish Public Employment Service, and Northvolt.

General information about the visitors who participated in Meet & Match Skellefteå

• Over 85 nationalities represented
• Approximately 20% from Sweden, 20% EU citizens, and 60% from outside the EU/EEA
• Approximately 90% of participants have post-secondary education, with two-thirds holding a master’s degree
• Around 93% report strong English skills, and about 53% have basic Swedish language proficiency, making them well-equipped to quickly integrate into Swedish workplaces
• Education and experience span all fields and industries.

• 85 employers, including ABB, AFRY, Boliden, LKAB, Norrmejerier, SCA, Skellefteå Kraft, SSAB, Stegra, and many more.
• 50 other organizations, consisting of government agencies, municipalities, trade unions, transition organizations, education providers, business support services, and civil society actors.
• Exhibitors from across Sweden, including Västerbotten, Norrbotten, Västernorrland, Hälsingland, Gästrikland, Västmanland, Småland, Skåne – and Österbotten in Finland.
