Farm shops - a visit to local producers
Want to shop locally while supporting small-scale producers in the countryside? Take the opportunity to visit some of the farm shops around the municipality!
From farm to fork
Many vegetables, cabbages and root vegetables thrive in the Västerbotten soil, and around Skellefteå there is a variety of vegetable farms. At Renfors Grönsaker, just outside Burträsk, you can buy sun-warmed tomatoes and juicy cucumbers straight from the greenhouse. You can also find other vegetables such as garlic, broccoli and beetroot. Ekogården in Kräkånger grows lots of cabbage varieties, green salads and root vegetables, which are sold in the shop on the farm.
Great meat details
Animals raised and butchered under fair conditions produce the best meat. The farm shop in Järvtjärn offers meat products from the farm's own outdoor pigs - which, just as it sounds, are allowed to roam freely in the wild. If you're in the mood for a hearty Angus burger, a visit to Bergmark Gård in Vallen is recommended, where the focus is on fair breeding of several cattle, including the Scottish Angus breed. At Strömsholm Farm, just outside Bureå, you can also buy delicious cuts - perfect for the barbecue on a warm summer evening.

A delicate food craft
In addition to the obvious Västerbotten cheese, other high-quality delicacies are also produced in and around Skellefteå. At the farm dairy Svedjan Ost in Storkågeträsk, everything from locally produced grill-cheese to tasty mold cheeses are on sale. Really good gourmet sausages can be found at Västerbottenkorv in Lövsele, which also offers glazes, rubs and other things that belong to the barbecue season. Hermanssons Bageri in Burvik is famous for its "Hällakaka", which, along with other bread, is bought fresh.
Saluhallen: bringing everything together in one place
Did you know that there are two market halls outside Skellefteå? Lövånger Saluhall opened it's doors last year and offers, in addition to lots of local delicacies, a café section with home-baked goodies. Burträsk Saluhall is a well-known destination for those interested in food, which has a partnership with many producers from the immediate area. If you want to experience genuine food crafts within the city limits, Matverket, right next to the historic Café Lilla Marie, is an obvious choice. You can find products from a number of local producers - with everything from jams and honey, to cheese and charcuterie
