Klockardalsparken

A visitor-friendly place, both in summer and winter

Klockardalsparken is a popular destination for sledging and barbecues. The park has been refurbished to make it a pleasant and visitor-friendly place all year round. The park was completed in 2023.

Klockardalsparken is situated between Sjungande dalen and Eriksberg; the redevelopment of the park was a key part of the neighbourhood’s development, alongside the construction of more homes in the neighbouring areas of Eriksberg and Erikslid. Thanks to support from the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s ‘Green Cities’ initiative, Skellefteå Municipality has been able to invest a little extra in the park to make it more popular with visitors in both summer and winter. Through the VARCITIES project, the focus has been on stormwater management, climate adaptation and increased biodiversity.

Improvements:

• An outdoor classroom that can be used by the municipality’s schools and nurseries, but also serves as a shelter from the wind.
• An accessible car park for both cars and buses adjacent to the outdoor classroom.
• An insect hotel (as part of the VARCITIES project).
• A wetland meadow that collects rainwater and reduces the risk of flooding in the surrounding area.
• Sensors indicating whether the wind shelter is available and whether there are free car parking spaces.
• Lighting by the toboggan run, inspired by the Northern Lights.
• Signs providing information about the park and its importance to us visitors.

The local council has also drawn up a long-term plan to safeguard and enhance the area’s biodiversity.
