Skellefteå Universities Alliance

SUA is a foundation established in 2025 by Nornan Invest, the Municipality of Skellefteå, and Skellefteå Kraft to facilitate the development of new educational models and strategic collaborations between academia, industry, and society. SUA aims to expand the range of higher education offerings in Skellefteå and promote innovation in academic education and learning nationwide.

Vision

The vision is to create a modern and inclusive model for lifelong learning that supports both the individual’s and society’s need for development in a changing world. Through new and tailored educational programs, accessible to both young people and working professionals, SUA promotes individual learning, organizational development, and societal transformation.

Skellefteå as a test bed

Skellefteå serves as an ideal test bed for this work for several reasons. The region is at the center of the green industrial transition, with rapid development in sectors such as future mineral extraction, battery production, wood technology, and sustainable energy. This creates a need for new skills and new educational models that can quickly meet the demands of the labor market. Skellefteå also has a long tradition of collaboration between the business community, society, and educational institutions, which provides a stable foundation for testing and further developing innovative solutions and working methods.
