Electrification
The Skellefteå Campus conducts research in energy technology and electrical power—ranging from electric aircraft and wind power in cold climates to smart buildings.
The whole world is in the process of transitioning to an electrified future, which essentially involves replacing fossil-fuel-based power sources with electricity. This is being done to meet established climate goals and reduce our CO2 emissions.
Leading this transformation also ensures our country’s future competitiveness. However, there are a number of questions we need to answer in order to accelerate the transition toward an electrified society. This is where our campus research plays a vital role.
Research in electrification encompasses both energy technology and electric power, and a range of interesting applications are currently underway here—electric aviation, smart buildings, and wind power in cold climates.
Electrical Power Engineering
The research and education subject of Electrical Power Engineering encompasses the study of sustainable systems for electricity generation, the transmission of electrical energy, and the interaction between power grids, electricity generation, and electricity consumption.
