We are a region unlike any other when it comes to wood! We have an abundant supply of wood in Västerbotten and a rich tradition of working across the entire wood value chain—from forest to finished structure. The resource is renewable and environmentally friendly, so it’s no coincidence that we were one of the first municipalities in Sweden to adopt a strategy to promote sustainable wood-based construction. TräCentrum Norr
TräCentrum Norr is a center established within LTU in collaboration with wood industry companies. The goal is to create a wood industry that, through new and innovative products, systems, and services, can increase added value and strengthen competitiveness.

Wood Product Development
Wood product development focuses on creating customized wood products based on market demands, the properties of wood, and manufacturing processes. To achieve this, we work in 3D environments using models and simulations.
