Culture and leisure guides help children and young people find their activity
All children and young people have the right to safe and meaningful leisure time. That is why there are culture and leisure guides in Skellefteå municipality.
There are many different activities in the municipality - in culture, sport and associations. Some are organized by the municipality, for example through Kulturskolan, but most are run by associations. With so much to choose from, it can sometimes be difficult to know where to start. That's where our culture and leisure guides can help.
They work in partnership with schools, associations and families. Before the guides visit a school, they gather information about what activities are available in the area - both from associations and the School of Culture - so that children can see what opportunities they have. Children and young people are then asked to choose what they want to do from the options available.
The basis for the cultural and leisure guidance is Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child - all children have the right to play, rest and meaningful leisure time.
