About Handens hus
The guiding principle of Handens hus is quality. Constant development of materials, techniques and forms is a prerequisite for the survival of newly produced crafts and handicrafts. Here, meetings take place between practitioners, between past and present, and between old and young.
Children's activities, craft meetings and activity days are organized at Handens hus. A municipal handicraft consultant employed half-time runs the activities.
Location
Handens hus is located in the old farm building on the western side of the Nordanå area. It is located in the same building as Lanthandeln, entrance from the back.

Handens hus - Autumn 2026
On craft evenings, we craft with the evening's theme as inspiration.
Tools are available to borrow and materials for the evening's theme are included. If you want to, you can bring your own tools and materials.
The evenings are suitable for anyone who is curious about crafts, but children under 13 years of age must always be accompanied by
an adult. The evenings are adapted for adults. No registration.
Fee: It costs SEK 60 per evening for materials and coffee.
1 September Button Stitching
Using a needle and linen thread, we will sew buttons using various buttonhole stitches.
8 September Green Wood Carving
We will try a few basic carving techniques using a knife and an axe.We will try a few basic carving techniques using a knife and an axe.
15 September Band Weaving
We will weave bands using a band heddle or weaving tablets. If you have your own band heddle, weaving tablets, or weaving needle, please bring them along. If you bring a thoroughly cleaned milk carton, you can make your own weaving tablets.
29 September Paper Crafts
We will twist, tie, cut, and fold paper. Various paper craft techniques will challenge us throughout the evening.
13 October Embroidery
Using small stitches, we will create a variety of textures. An evening of stitch samplers!
27 October Wirework
We will bend and bind iron wire to create a small bowl.
10 November Knitting
Bring a knitting project you are working on. We will chat and share knitting tips and inspiration with one another.
Slöjdklubben - The crafts club
Are you interested in crafting? At Slöjdklubben you can carve, paint, sew, braid, crochet, bend, pry and make cool things. In Slöjdklubben you meet others with the same interest and you also get to learn more about crafts! Ages 7-14.
Slöjdklubben is free of charge, but registration is required. A parent or guardian must approve the registration. When you register, you sign up for all 8 sessions. The club is limited to 12 children.
In Slöjdklubben we like to work with natural materials such as wool, linen and wood, but recycling is also common. Children naturally experience the connection between crafts, nature and ecology.

Insurance and clothing
It is good if the children have clothes they are not afraid to damage, as Slöjdklubben sometimes uses materials and colors that can cause stains or the like. Warm clothes may also be needed for outdoor activities.
All children in Skellefteå municipality are insured during their free time. If an accident occurs, it is the parent's responsibility to report the damage to the insurance company.
Who runs Slöjdklubben?
Slöjdklubben has its origins in Svenska Hemslöjdsföreningarnas Riksförbund, SHR. www.hemslojden.org External link.
Locally in Skellefteå, the Västerbotten County Homecraft Association, Länshemslöjdskonsulenterna and Handens hus/Kulturavdelningen Skellefteå Kommun collaborate.
