The talking benches - every conversation matters

In Skellefteå in Skellefteå municipality you will find yellow benches. The benches encourage us to meet and talk to each other. Every conversation means something. For you. For me. You are important.

The yellow benches, or friendship benches as they are sometimes called, have spread to several countries and have gained attention for their unique way of promoting social interaction and community. The idea behind the project is to facilitate openness through a simple symbol - the yellow bench.

Be brave enough to start a conversation that matters.

The benches are made by either restoring existing benches, or by building them from recycled materials. Three benches, donated by Skellefteå Museum, have been placed and more benches will appear around the municipality.
