Elderly people who have such extensive needs that they cannot stay in their old home can, after a decision, rent their own apartment in a Nursing Home. As an assistant nurse, you help to ensure that the people who live here have a meaningful everyday life.
The Nursing Homes are staffed by assistant nurses, care assistants, nurses and housing managers. On some days, occupational therapists and physiotherapists are on site. The homes also work closely with doctors at health centers.
As an assistant nurse, you will provide care and assistance based on the individual's needs. You play an important role in the planning of care, and through a rehabilitative approach you support and encourage the elderly person's abilities.
It's a job that requires patience, understanding and knowledge of what is going on around the care recipient's health condition. And every person is unique – different people need to be treated in different ways.
The tasks include documenting, planning and organizing the daily work. The social aspect is a natural part, as you work with the same individuals for a long time and get to know them. For some of the older people and their relatives, you may also act as a contact person.
