Grayling on the coast, a vulnerable population

The grayling population in the Bothnian Bay is vulnerable, and therefore special rules apply to protect it. There is a good chance of catching grayling while ice fishing in early spring, and it is important to know that grayling is
protected (fishing ban) during the
period from April 15 to May 31
.

When fishing for grayling, you may keep a maximum of 3 grayling per day, and they must be at least 35 cm long to be kept.
It is also recommended to release grayling longer than 45 cm. This is because large grayling are crucial to the survival of the entire grayling population.
