Shelters

In the event of an air raid, get to a shelter or other protected area immediately. Choose the nearest one.

Take your radio and mobile phone with you. Basements and underground garages offer protection in the event of an air raid. A tunnel or a wall will also give you some protection. It is better to be indoors than outdoors, preferably in a room without windows.

Shelters in Skellefteå municipality

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) has overall responsibility for the country's shelters. Property owners are responsible for maintenance.

Within the boundaries of Skellefteå municipality there are approximately 470 shelters. The Municipality of Skellefteå is a major property owner and maintains about 50 of these shelters.

An inventory has been made of the shelters for which the municipality is responsible. Most are in good condition, but some need work to bring them up to standard. Some of the work has been carried out, but some is still ongoing.

A map in Swedish showing the location of the shelters is available on the MSB website.
