Fly fishing

Fly fishing is a fun and sometimes effective method used primarily for fishing for trout and grayling, but pike and other species can also be lured. Fly fishing may not be the first thing a beginner does, but once you learn how to handle a fly rod, it's easy to get hooked.

Common baits: Dry fly, nymph, wet fly, streamer and tube fly

Common species: grayling, trout, whitefish, rainbow trout and salmon

Equipment: Fly rod, fly, net, pliers or fishing rod

Other tips: To get started with fly fishing, you need a fly rod with a fly reel and fly line adapted to the type of fishing you intend to do. At the end of the fly line you put a leader and finally the fly itself. There are several types of flies that imitate different things, nymphs and dry flies that resemble small insects and streamers that are supposed to resemble shrimp or small fish. The patterns for the different flies can be varied endlessly; talk to your local fishing shop for tips and equipment choices.
