Spinning
Spinning is the most common form of angling and you often fish with a spoon, spinner or jig. You will need some type of casting rod, depending on what, where and how you intend to fish. There are many ready-made packages of rods, reels and even lines available for different purposes, so you don't have to guess. Visit your local fishing shop, they will help you.

Common baits: Jig, spoon drag, spinner, hard bait
Common species: Pike, perch, trout, grayling
Equipment: Rod and reel, bait, landing net, pliers or fishing rod
Other tips: When casting, let the bait hang down a few inches from the rod tip and then, with a soft sweeping motion, swing the rod over your head or shoulder and forward. Try casting a bit beyond where you think there are fish, then let the bait "swim" past at varying speeds. Fish the area like a fan and try different baits before you move. The color and bait that worked yesterday may not work today.
