Södertorg

An attractive local square on the south side of the river

Södertorg will be given new life as an attractive meeting place for visitors and residents of the area. There are now plans for 90 more rental apartments with construction starting in June 2024.

The goal is to develop Södertorg into a meeting place with a focus on small-scale trade and activities. The square will connect the district from north to south. Plans are now being made to lay new paving, furnish the area and densify it with new buildings. There will also be 90 rental apartments, and on the ground floor there will be premises for restaurants, shops and offices.

Prioritizing pedestrians and cyclists is an important condition for the sustainable city and the idea is to clarify the pedestrian and bicycle route from the Campus, further along Brogatan and over Parkbron. In the long term, there are plans to turn Parkbron into an attractive and safe pedestrian and bicycle bridge that connects to Bockholmsvägen in the south and Stationsgatan in the north; both streets will be renovated and adapted for bicycle traffic.
